| RFID is a type of memory that can send and receive information wirelessly. To use RFID a reader connected to a computer is needed to send the information to the booking system. The advantage with RFID is that the communication is wireless so the user never have to remember to jack in or out anything. The RFID memory is ideally attached to the car key ring. The RFID-writer in the car that sends driving data to the memory should be placed close to the keyhole. In this way it can write data to the memory automatically while driving. The RFID reader should be placed where the car key is normally stored, this could be a key locker for example. In this way the memory can be read into the booking system when the car key is returned to its storage location. This system gives a semi automatic solution where the user doesn't have to think about connecting the memory to a reader or writer. Equipment to measure how the car is being used and a RFID writer must be installed in the car. RFID can also be used for identification purposes. A RFID reader is installed, usually in the back side window, which can read and verify the RFID smart card. To use a driver's license for identification a barcode reader must be installed instead. Driver's license identification can be a good option to ensure that the driver really has a driver's license. |
