Hardware Hand terminal The hand terminal is a very flexible solution with a wide application range. It can for example be used for gathering of driving logs, time reporting, job reporting etc. To use the hand terminal a reader connected to a computer is required to transfer data from the terminal to the booking system. This introduces a manual handling since the hand terminal must be taken from the car and emptied when you want the information transferred to the booking system. Because of the terminals long battery life this doesn't have to be done after each booking. The reader also functions as a charger. Transferring the information takes only a few seconds but the hand terminal should be left to charge until the next person needs it. The hand terminals are ideally tagged with the corresponding car's license number to avoid mixing them up.
To make a driving log you can either input data manually into the hand terminal or a GPS can be connected to register data automatically. With a GPS connected a more detailed driving log will be created which can be used in the booking system for features like "Visiting spots" and "V-ISA".
"Visiting spots" is a function where coordinates are connected to certain locations. You can then see at which locations you've been and for how long. This can be an excellent tool for quotation and time reporting in service professions and similar.
"V-ISA" can be used without an external warning unit. Instead statistics are shown in the booking system after the booking has taken place. This allows the admin to review how the speed limits are being obeyed by different users. This can be part of a program to promote safe and environment friendly driving. V-ISA has often proved to be as good as active ISA for generally improving the users driving habits.
The hand terminal has a barcode reader that can be used to read driver's licenses for easy log in, and/or to read work codes and/or to read codes on locations to get time reports. The hand terminal can also be used in a similar fashion to report on work done for service companies or similar. It's easy to report locations visited, times and work done. | |
